Game Rules: Rackrunners
LINK: http://www.trugamer.com/gametrust/support.html

Overview:
Rackrunners is a single player variant of pool, where the goal is to pocket as many balls as possible without missing a single shot. Once you miss a shot, the game is over and your score is compiled. The initial layout of the balls is the standard triangle layout.

Object of the Game:
The main object of the game is to pocket all of the balls in a rack in consecutive shots and in the shortest amount of time, before the Bonus Timer on the right depletes. The game is complete when you reach your fourth re-rack of the balls.

Playing the Game:
After the initial break, you must pocket one (or more) balls on every shot, regardless of number or color. You must complete each rack in the fastest time possible; if you do not complete a rack before the Time/Bonus meter on the bottom right depletes, the game is over. When all but one ball and the cue ball are left on the table, the pocketed balls are re-racked in the same fashion, and the game continues. However, unlike the initial break, you must pocket a ball on the second and third breaks. Upon the fourth re-rack, you win the game!

Controls:
The game is controlled with the mouse to move the cue, and can be controlled in two different fashions.
Quick Control - Drag the cue with the left mouse button pressed until the cue is in the desired angle, then use the right mouse button to drag the cue back, to give the cue the desired amount of thrust. Be aware that when the right mouse button is released the cue will strike.
Precise Control - Use the shot control panel, located at the opposite end of the cue, to more precisely control your shot?s power, angle and english. When the desired settings have been set, press the shoot button to strike.

Scoring:
Your score is shown on the bottom left corner of the game screen. You recieve points for completing certain objectives in the game.

  • 300 points per pocketed ball
  • 1000 points for reaching a re-rack
  • 5000 points for beating the game
  • Bonus Points remaining per rack- you have 3000 available bonus points at the beggining of every rack that counts down, serving also as a timer. When you complete a rack you get the number of remaining bonus points. When you lose the game by not pocketing a ball, you receive no bonus points for that particular rack.

Winning the Tournament:
You win the tournament by registering the highest score of all players involved. The highest score will be awarded to the player who either beats the game, or gets the farthest into the game, in the quickest amount of time.

Other Features:
You can choose to Quit the game at any time by clicking either the "Resign" or "Exit" button, which are both located on the bottom of the game screen. Warning: Quitting prior to game completion in a tournament will result in the surrender of the tournament entry fee!

Controls:
RackRunners is fun and a great way to meet friends, but before you get into your first game, you'll need to learn the controls. It's very simple, but this primer will help first-timers who may be a little lost. When you start a game, when it's your turn to shoot, you'll notice a tool bar on your screen. This tool bar lists the phases of your turn – Angle, English, and Power.

First, Angle. This is where you line up your shot. Click on your cue stick and move it around. It should revolve around the cue ball with a white line extending from it – showing which way the ball will be shot. Once you're satisfied with your Angle, it's time to move onto the next step.

English. Click on the English button in the tool bar. On the button, you'll see a target. You can move this target around to change where you strike the cue ball. Hitting the ball in different places gives the ball a different spin. Experiment and try hitting different spots. New players often leave the English button alone, but it's something advance players master.

Power. After you have selected where you want to strike your ball, it's time to choose how hard to hit it. Select Power and notice the bar to the side of the tool bar. There's a toggle on this bar. Slide the toggle up to increase your shot's power. Again, experiment with different strengths. Too much and your ball will bounce about the board. Too little and it won't make it to the cue ball. (Also, if you right click on your cue stick, you can increase your shot's power by dragging it back.)

Once all that's done, hit the Shoot button on the tool bar! You're done. Beyond these basic controls, you should also be aware of two other things. First, you have a limited amount of time to complete your shot. You'll see a timer at the bottom of the screen. Be sure to shoot before the time runs out. In Rack Runners, the game's over when the timer reaches zero. In 8 Ball and 9 Ball, it becomes your opponent's turn. Second, depending on the conditions, you may be able to move the cue ball. You'll become aware of these times when your cursor turns into a hand when moved atop the cue ball. Simply click it and drag it wherever you'd like.

Now, armed with this knowledge, go out there and become the ultimate pool shark!
